“To Kill a Mockingbird” is adapted from Harper Lee’s coming of age novel of the same name. The film was unforgettable. (This writer was friends with Horton Foote, the screenwriter.) Scout and Gem Finch and their next door neighbor Dill are on a quest, to learn the secret of Boo Radley, whom they believe to be a neighborhood monster. Meanwhile the father, Atticus Finch, is in the legal fight of his life, to save the live of a black man unjustly accused of rape. Seen through the eyes of the children, the drama explores the real monsters among us, racism and the slow life of a small Southern town.
