Dragon’s Thunder – Cirque Shanghai

Cirque ShanghaiThis summer, in addition to all the exciting attractions Chicago’s Navy Pier has to offer, the historic venue will play host to the largest Cirque Shanghai Troupe to ever tour the United States, Dragon’s Thunder. This amazing performance features performers who have spent their lives working and training in China to bring their artistic performances over to North America to share with audiences in Chicago. Each performance of Dragon’s Thunder will feature tumbling, juggling, balancing acts, acrobats, and many other awe-inspiring acts.

Dragon’s Thunder combines challenging performance art with rhythm and music. For the first time, Cirque Shanghai combines Traditional Chinese Dragon Drums with their live performance. Audiences will enjoy watching astounding physical acts while enjoying the music of traditional Chinese drums.

As with previous years, this year, Dragon’s Thunder will feature the Wheel of Destiny as well as China’s premier daredevil motorcycle troupe, Imperial Thunder. Unlike last year, however, this year’s performance by Imperial Thunder will feature not just two daredevil motorcyclists, but five motorcyclists. All five daredevils will ride around at breakneck speeds within a steel globe while the audience holds their breath, fearing for the worst only to be delighted when all of the performers come out of the globe unscathed.

This year’s performance of Dragon’s Thunder is guaranteed to shock and amaze audiences. Even show-goers who had the pleasure of attending the show last year will be delighted with the new additions to Dragon’s Thunder and the immense degree of difficulty involved in each performance.

The 2012 run of Dragon’s Thunder had audiences and critics raving. Perhaps the best review of Dragon’s Thunder came from a Chicago Parent who said ‘this is one of those rare shows that works for everyone”. Dragon’s Thunder is the perfect show for all ages. Children will be delighted by the show, and adults won’t be able to stop themselves from raising their eyebrows and being entertained by what they are seeing.
