Wednesday, March 21, the Chicago Bluegrass and Blues Festival kicks off at Fitzgerald’s Night Club in Berwyn with Mary Lane and the No Static Blues Band. Mary Lane has performed with the likes of Howlin’ Wolf, Little Junior Parker and James Cotton. Also appearing: The Shams Band, Majors Function, and The Frizz. Fitzgerald’s Night Club is located at 6615 West Roosevelt Road in Berwyn.

Thursday, the Chicago Bluegrass and Blues Festival moves to Martyr’s, featuring Matador! Soul Sounds, backed by Jennifer Hartswick and Nick Cassario Duet. Matador! Soul Sounds, is a newer band which plays jazz, funk and soul. Their new EP “Get Ready” comes out in 2018. Martyr’s is located at 3855 North Lincoln Avenue in Chicago.

Curtis Harding comes to Lincoln Hall on Friday, March 23. His newest album “Face Your Fear,” was named by NPR as one of the Top Ten Albums of 2017. Harding is the epitome of soul music, having grown up at the knee of his gospel singing mom. His sound has been described a “other-worldly, synth-driven soul.” Lincoln Hall is located at 2424 North Lincoln Avenue in Chicago.

The Chicago Bluegrass and Blues Festival concludes Sunday, March 25 at Lincoln Hall with Canadian singer songwriter phenom Colter Wall. At the tender age of 22, Wall is at the forefront of the blues, folk and Americana tradition. “His song “Sleeping on the Blacktop” was recently featured in the films “Hell or High Water” and “Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri.
