OMG! Farm Aid turns thirty this year! Willie Nelson & Family will be joined by: Neil Young, John Mellencamp, Dave Mathews, Imagine Dragons, Mavis Staples, Blackwood Quartet, Insects Vs Robots, Old Crow Medicine Show and a whole lot more!

Farm Aid was founded by Willie, John and Neil in 1985, to raise awareness of the decline and outright disappearance of family farms. It has raised fifty million dollars in that time, to support farm families in crisis.

Willie Hugh Nelson has been performing on the road since the 50s. He wasn’t the big star we know until the 70s. He is considered a co-founder of the so-called Outlaw Country style, a breakaway from the traditional Nashville sound.

If you don’t know, Northerly Island, really a manmade peninsula, was formerly the home of a private airstrip. It has been converted to a concert arena, walking and biking trails, and a small prairie. It’s a great place for a pre-show walk.

First Merit Bank Pavilion is located at 1300 South Lynn White Drive, just southeast of Millennium Park. For tickets, go online to www.livenation.com or call (800) 745-3000.

Best Western Plus Chicago Hotel at Hillside, just a short drive from Farm Aid, provides free shuttle service to and from O’Hare Airport in Chicago. The hotel offers affordable, comfortable rooms, a breakfast bar and restaurant and much more. The hotel is pet friendly and offers AAA rates.
