Garfield Park Spring Flower Show

Bring the family to the Garfield Park Conservatory Spring Flower Show through April, and stay at the nearby and affordable Best Western Plus Chicago Hotel at Hillside!

The Garfield Park Observatory Spring Flower Show will fill your senses with color and perfume! Wander through azaleas, tulips, snap dragons, and camellias! Special this year is the tribute to the Chicago Cubs World Series Championship, with foul poles, ivy, and a few “W” flags! It’s free!

But that’s not all. Explore the Palm House, with seventy palm trees from around the world. Warm up in the primordial heat of the fern house, with its collection of Illinois native ferns which date back millions of years! The Sugar from the Sun room is about how plants absorb oxygen and convert it to sugar. Desert House (not to be confused with Dessert House) features cacti and other succulents, from stone-size to giant! Aroid House features plants familiar to indoor gardeners, and a stunning sixteen handblown glass lily pads designed by famed glass artist Chihuly! And then there are the twelve acres of outdoor gardens, including City Garden, Demonstration Garden, Monet Garden and Sensory Garden!

The Garfield Park Observatory is located at 300 North Central Park Avenue. The observatory is open daily from 9 am to 5 pm, and 9 am to 8 pm Wednesdays. Admission is free.
