First Folio Theatre: The Gravedigger

If Halloween is your favorite season and ghouls are your cup of tea, don’t miss “The Gravedigger: A Frankenstein Play,” at the First Folio Theatre in Oakbrook and stay at the nearby and affordable Best Western Plus Chicago Hotel at Hillside!

“The Gravedigger: A Frankenstein Play,” is a gothic drama set in the 1700’s, in a forgotten Bavarian cemetery. A simple gravedigger finds a badly scarred man hiding in one of his fresh-dug graves. (Don’t you hate it when that happens?) What he doesn’t know is that the scarred man is the sewn together monster created by a mad doctor. What the monster doesn’t know is that the gravedigger had an unwitting hand in his creation. The play is suitable for ages 13 and up.

Playwright Joseph Zettlemaier has had a string of hit plays, many of them themed on the iconic characters from old black and white movies such as “Dracula,” “A Christmas Carol,” and many more. His play, “It Came from Mars,” won the 2009 Edgerton Foundation Best New Play award.

“The Gravedigger: A Frankenstein Play,” runs from October 4 through November 2.
